Discovering The Arts
Christ Greenfield School offers an exceptional Fine Arts program. Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade are provided a variety of opportunities to discover and develop God's gift of creativity.
Music and Theater Program
Kindergarten students participate in music class twice a week and focus on experience with sounds that pulse, are fast/slow, and long/short sounds, as well as matching pitch, playing unpitched percussion instruments, and exploring movement through dramatic play. Students learn vocal technique and performance skills through participation in a Christmas Concert and Spring Musical.
Students in Grades 1-4 enjoy music class twice a week and focus on developing their understanding of rhythm, melody, and form. Students study composers monthly and explore opportunities to identify and play pitched and unpitched percussion instruments.
Students in Grades 4-5 continue to develop instrumental skills by learning to play the recorder. In Grade 5, students may join Beginning Band as an additional opportunity.
K-5th Grade students learn vocal technique and performance skills through participation in a Christmas Concert that combines instrumental and choral performances. They also participate in annual musical production. Previous shows include "The Big Inning", "Alice in Wonderland, Jr", "Willy Wonka, Jr", "Star Quest", and "Soul on Fire". Recent performances, are "Living Water" and "Something to Sing About".
Middle School students perform in the Christmas Concert and are invited to participate in Ovation!, an Honors Choir that meets before and during the school day. They also have the option of participating in annual musical production. Past musicals include Jr. productions of "Seussical", "Annie", "Peter Pan", "Bye Bye Birdie", "Sound of Music", "High School Musical", and "Music Man".
In addition to Band, Ovation, and Theater, Middle School students are provided with Electives options that include Worship Arts and other musical options.
