Do I need to be a member of a particular church to send my child to Christ Greenfield School?

No, we have families from many different faith backgrounds. We share the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ from a Lutheran perspective. To learn more about what Lutherans believe take a look at our Mission and Values.

Is your Kindergarten program full or half-day?

We offer both a half-day and a full-day program for Kindergarten. Both programs provide the essential instruction necessary for first-grade success. Both programs prioritize core curriculum objectives in the morning hours, however, the full-day program allows for extension and enrichment of morning lessons into the afternoon.

What are your class sizes?

Preschool Student-to-teacher ratio:

For our preschool, we follow NAEYC’s recommendations regarding ratios. These ratios are lower than state standards.

  • Beginner (Ages 2.5-3): 6 to 1

  • Preschool (Ages 3-4): 7 to 1

  • Pre-Kinder (Ages 4-5): 9 to 1

Elementary & Middle School Student-To-Teacher Ratio:

Our student-teacher ratio is lower than local public, charter, and private schools.

The average class size for our Kindergarten classes is 20 students with a 1:10 teacher/staff to student ratio.

The average class size for our 1st - 5th grade classes is 20 students.

The average class size for our middle school classes is 24 students.

Does your curriculum meet State standards?

Yes, our curriculum exceeds the state of Arizona's standards. As a private school, we are able to independently determine and adhere to educational standards which best ensure the highest quality of academic preparation for students. Our school provides a rigorous academic curriculum that integrates the Christian faith and knowledge.

Where do graduates go to high school?

Our students have attended or currently attend local public high schools in Gilbert, Higley, Mesa, Chandler, Queen Creek, and Tempe, as well as other private high schools, including Valley Christian, Gilbert Christian, Seton Catholic, Brophy, and Xavier College Prep.

Where do graduates go to college?

Graduates of Christ Greenfield School have gone on to attend universities such as Grand Canyon, Arizona, Arizona State, Barrett Honors, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical, Northern Arizona, San Diego, Azusa Pacific, Colorado State, Northern Colorado, Greenville College, Concordia Irvine, Concordia Texas,… to name just a few.​

Is there a dress code?

Yes, are dress code for K-8 students is found within our standardized dress policy located in our Community handbook. 

​

Christ Greenfield School is a place for instruction and learning. The purpose of having a standardized dress policy is to simplify the matter of student attire and place that issue in perspective with regard to the learning process. The standardized dress also promotes a sense of civility and equality among the students and encourages responsibility and self-discipline. Our administrators and faculty insist that each student be dressed in a way that will not hinder the educational process, will promote a positive image among our students, and will provide a Christian witness to the community.

Preschool students may wear comfortable and modest clothing for playing. We encourage girls to wear shorts under dresses and skirts.​

​

Do you allow parents to help in the classroom?

There are numerous opportunities for parents to volunteer and serve in the classroom and other school day activities.

Are you accredited?

Our Preschool is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and National Lutheran Schools Accreditation (NLSA). Our K-8 is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) as well as NLSA.

What qualifications do the teachers have?

Our faculty are exceptional. A majority of our full-time staff hold a Master's degree. Preschool lead teachers are expected to have a bachelor’s degree in education and/or a CDA (Child Development Associate) credential. Each preschool staff member must hold or pursue a CDA and complete 18 hours of professional development each academic year.​ Elementary and middle school teachers are expected to have a bachelor’s degree in education, state certification, and a Lutheran teacher’s certification. Elementary teachers attend school in-services, local workshops, and the LCMS Pacific Southwest District teacher conference to complete 18 hours of professional development each year.

What are the school hours?

 
Preschool
  • Morning sessions: 8:00 am - 11:00 am

  • Afternoon sessions: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Grades K-8
  • 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

    • Half-Day Kindergarten 8:00 am - 11:30 am​

  • Drop-off: 7:45–8:00 am

  • Pick-up: 3:00-3:15 pm

Do you have before and after school care?

We have an excellent wrap-around extended care program for all students to help meet the needs of our working parents. The cost of Extended Care is $12 per hour per child for regularly scheduled students.  A $2/minute late fee is applied after the closure of extended care.

  • K-8: 7:15 am - 7:45 am

After Care

  • PS-8: 3:15-5:15 pm​

How much homework is given to students?

​Teachers endeavor to assign no more than 10 minutes times the grade level of the students for homework. For example, students in second grade on average would have no more than 20 minutes of homework
