Performing Arts

Kindergarten students participate in music class twice a week and focus on experience with sounds that pulse, are fast/slow, and long/short sounds, as well as matching pitch, playing unpitched percussion instruments, and exploring movement through dramatic play. Students learn vocal technique and performance skills through participation in a Christmas Concert and Spring Musical.

Students in Grades 1-3 enjoy music class twice a week and focus on developing their understanding of rhythm, melody, and form. Students study composers monthly and explore opportunities to identify and play pitched and unpitched percussion instruments.

Students in Grades 4-5 continue to develop instrumental skills by learning to play the recorder. In Grade 5, students may join Beginning Band as an additional opportunity.

K-5th Grade students learn vocal technique and performance skills through participation in a Christmas Concert that combines instrumental and choral performances. They also participate in annual musical production. Previous shows include "The Big Inning", "Alice in Wonderland, Jr", "Willy Wonka, Jr", "Star Quest", and "Soul on Fire". Recent performances, are "Living Water" and "Something to Sing About".

Middle School students perform in the Christmas Concert and are invited to participate in Ovation!, an Honors Choir that meets before and during the school day. They also have the option of participating in annual musical production. Past musicals include Jr. productions of "Seussical", "Annie", "Peter Pan", "Bye Bye Birdie", "Sound of Music", "High School Musical", and "Music Man".

In addition to Band, Ovation, and Theater, Middle School students are provided with Electives options that include Worship Arts and other musical options.

High School students are welcome to explore their passions and interests in performance arts by participating in Drumline, Band, and choir.

Ovation is our audition-only performance choir. Students may audition beginning in 4th grade. This performance choir has opportunities to demonstrate their talents at different showcase venues such as Footprints Arena, Chase Field, and Grand Canyon University. Ovation is led by Lyndsay Ermeling.

A new program for Christ Greenfield School. Drumline is led by Dr. Jeremy Isley. Students beginning in 4th grade can join this additional elective music program.

Beginning in 5th grade, students in our grade school can pick an instrument of choice. These students perform at various events throughout the school year. Our band program is led by Dr. Jeremy Isley.
